COMPONENT
OF BASIC EDUCATION

1.
Explain the origin and meaning of UBE
2.

Introduction:
The Universal Basic
Education (UBE) was birthed in year 1999 following the Olusegun Obasanjo regime
as the President of the country. The introduction of the modern education
brought about new trends in the Nigerian education, which encouraged the
amendment of educational curriculums in the country.
Not all schools are
making positive use of this new system of education. The former was 6-3-3-4
educational system, meaning; 6years in the primary, 3years in the junior
secondary school, 3years in the senior secondary school, and 4years in the
tertiary. However, the modern system is 9-3-4, meaning; 9years in the basic
education, 3years in the senior secondary school, and 4years in the tertiary.
The UBE assumes that
the primary and junior secondary education should be a stretch and adequate
provision was made for it the division is below.
