ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR (OB)
Objectives:
By the end of this training, trainee should be able to:
1.      Define Organizational Behaviour
2.      Identify the Difference Between Vision, Mission, and Core Values
3.      Explain the Concept of Organizational Culture and Structure

Introduction:
Organizations are made up of individual, groups and its structure. In every organization, particularly business organization, a lot of work and efforts are required to make organizations achieve its objectives and goals. Also to get things done in organizations, the why, how, who, where, and when of things should and must be analyzed, discussed and explained in order to make organizations develop, survive, expand and grow by utilizing the skills and capacities of human and material resources within and some extent outside the organization.
The studies and investigations of what individuals and group does, and how structures affect behaviours within organizations in order to achieve individual, group and ultimately organizations objectives and goals is what we called Organizational Behaviour.
To go further, there are certain concept that made up of OB, which contributes to adequate effectiveness and the actualization of set goals. The proper understanding of these concepts allows individuals or groups perform statutory functions accordingly with the picture of attaining the organizational goals and objectives in mind.
These concepts are needed to be discussed which are:

     Vision:
Every organization is born out of a vision, a purpose, a reason for its operations. Truly, all businesses strive to make profit in order to keep the business growing. However, there is always a clear statement showing the actual or original essence of the birth of the organization.
A vision statement can be defined as a one clear sentence or statement describing the clear and inspirational long term desired change, resulting from an organized work.

·        Mission:
After a well-defined vision, it is expedient to design ways and methods in achieving the spekt out vision. The methods designed in attaining the vision is what is known as a mission statement.
A mission statement is intended to clarify the what, who, and why of an organization. It is the roadmap for the vision statement. It is a general description of the organization, its functions, and its objectives.

These are the fundamental beliefs of an organization. These guiding principles dictate behaviour and can help organizations understand the difference between right and wrong. It is always structured towards the vision of the company.

·        Organization Culture:
This is also a way organizational life is carried on in an organization. It is broader than the core values of an organization. It comprises of beliefs, norms, altitudes, uniforms, songs, addressing, dignity of labour, customer focused, man-know-man, corruption, nepotism, God fearing, spiritual education of staff, hard work, among others. This can be subject to change. In order words, organizational culture is flexible.

·        Organization Structure:
This defines how activities such as task allocation, coordination, and supervision are directed towards the achievement of organizational set goals. It determines the flow of information in the organizational and hierarchical functions.
It enhances easy coordination, division of labour, grouping and combination of functions, delegation of authority, span of control, centralization, realization of tasks, among others.

Conclusion:
Being exposed to these facts about OB, will enable employees to work effectively towards the achievement of a common goal of the organization. When employees are well oriented about the vision, mission, core values, culture, and structure of an organization; everyone is focused in playing his/her own role in attaining organizational goals and objectives.
